What a redirect chain hurts

  • Lost link equity: every hop is estimated to leak a small percentage of PageRank, so multi-hop chains weaken the destination's SEO.
  • Crawl budget: Googlebot stops following chains after ~5 hops, leaving the final page un-indexed.
  • Page-speed: each round-trip is 50–500ms on top of the original request.
  • Mixed-protocol slips: a chain that bounces between http and https can flag a "not secure" warning in Chrome.

What we capture per URL

  • Each 301 / 302 / 307 / 308 hop with the exact Location header followed
  • Per-hop status, status reason, and round-trip latency in milliseconds
  • Final URL and final status code

URLs pointing to internal/private IPs are blocked for security. Maximum 50 URLs per request.
